During the Miss Universe 1994 round of 6 Sushmita was asked: If you have the time and money to embark on a great adventure, what would that be? Sush replied this way: Adventure is something that I enjoy within me, and I think children, are the little things that can really bring lots of adventure in life. If I have lots of money, I would do something for them. Sush, who claims to be single, did embark on that adventure by adopting two girls.

Like Sushmita, Raveena too adopted two girls - Pooja and Chhaya as a single mother.

National award winning South Indian actress Shobana also has adopted a baby girl. Her name is Anantha Narayani.
